We have launched our kickstarter campaign yesterday and we are also wondering if doing Facebook video advertisements is a good idea for the campaign or not. Any idea or experiences regarding the conversions?

Video ads are a good idea. What's very important about facebook ads is that showing them to general audience does not work well, you have to make sure that you're showing your add to laser targeted audience. This article has some fine tips about the content of your Facebook ads.

That's a great example.

Good article, but agree, barely scratching the surface.

I'd say the most important is to have a big community behind.

From the article you wrote, I'd divide the channels into three. Those that play a big role into awareness, those that play a big role on acquistion and finally on retention.

Therefore, from what you are saying:

Awareness:
- PR (they'd help understand the potential back on how the product works ofc)
- Influencer outreach
- Ads

Acquisition:
- Ads (as in retargeting)

Retention:
- Social media
- Fans base (email list)
