Kickstarter announced on January 6 in a blog post that instead of continuing to work with Amazon, who discontinued the product they were using to process payments, they are partnering with the growing company, Stripe. The change is supposed to make it easier for creators to launch projects and for backers to pledge to them.

What happens to projects that got approved while they were using the Amazon payment system but will launch after they make the switch? I haven't received any directions from Kickstarter yet. Wondering if I need to resubmit for approval or if it will automatically get replaced.

Not sure either at the moment. We're live when this news came out. I have not heard from Kickstarter directly about this either.

I heard back from Kickstarter and this is what they said:

" If you have not launched your project before your account is transitioned over to Stripe, your Account tab will be reset and you will need to re-enter some of your bank information. I apologize that I won't be able to tell you exactly when your particular project will be switched over to Stripe.

Required creator information:
Individual creator's name, birthdate, address, last 4 digits of SSN

Required bank information:
Business type, name
IRS, EIN - XX-XXXXXXX
Routing Number - 9 digits
Account Number"

Hope this helps!

I pledged 2 projects today and the first went through amazon and the other already in stripe, whcih make the payment directly inside Kickstarter backend, much more practical.

Love it

Any reason Kickstarter never went with Paypal?

Interesting. I've backed a few projects in Kickstarter - though none recently - so I would have have thought they'd've sent me a message letting me know of the change.

I guess I'll have to start reading the blog!

I also just launched a new campaign three days ago...already fully funded with 41 days to go. Not a big deal as I set the bar very low and one person pledged enough to fully fund me. I wonder what hoops I'll have to jump through to receive those funds (and hopefully much more) when the time comes.
