LeVar Burton did an interview with Forbes on the reading rainbow Kickstarter campaign (which has raised 3.5 million to date). It shares his thoughts on Kickstarter and where he sees himself taking the project from here.

If I remember correctly, he approached several venture capitalists but they weren't interested in funding the project.
