Weird Kickstarter Project: Operation Flamingo

Quite a few Kickstarter projects I've seen lately were fairly unique and not what I would expect to see on a crowdfunding website. This case is no exception. After a neighbour complained about this California family's construction project, resulting in a ticket, the family decided on some passive aggressive revenge. They began arranging pink flamingos on their lawn, in different shapes and spelling words like "MOM" on Mother's Day.

Several other families in the neighbourhood have joined in to resist the 'grumpy' people in the neighbourhood and now they've taken to Kickstarter so that the craziness can continue. They are asking for $500 to buy a whole slew of pink flamingos. Backers can request flock formations or sayings (appropriate ones, of course), and pictures of these formations have been posted on Facebook. While this story is certainly amusing, it seems like a lot of energy spent on a silly point and not quite the kind of creative endeavor Kickstarter generally has in mind for its users.

What do you think? Is this just a misguided project or some kind of scam? Do you love it?
