The link below contains a video of a talk by Steve Swink of Cubeheart Games, creator of SCALE, at the 2014 Game Developers Conference (GDC). In this talk Swink looks back on his 2013 Kickstarter campaign for SCALE.

During his talk, Swink looks back on the campaign and attempts to explain how and why SCALE was funded, the hellish journey he went through to make it happen, and the complex ethical questions he himself encountered while trying to fund his game via Kickstarter.

Do you find this video interesting?

"Think about how comfortable you are taking money from people, knowing you may never give them anything in return. What would it be like if that money came from your family?"

Well that's kind of a sobering way to put it. I do think it's a huge responsibility taking money from both your family and strangers. It can also be a lot of stress if you raise more money/get more backers than you anticipated because you need to make all these people happy and deliver your rewards on time. Guess it's a good primer for normal business life!
