    Trading pledge for pledge

    by quadzool » Sat Nov 01, 2014 3:25 pm

I've gotten a few messages at my campaign asking to trade $1 pledges, and I did for a few. I just wonder how Kickstarter feels about this, is it a conflict of interest or against the rules? I know having more backers only helps, so I was considering doing this myself.

    hi
i got the same request. and done a couple (at first i did not even have the 1$ pledge and the 1$ pledge they did, it did not even appear... bummer). I am actually not sure if it creates a good benefits since in my opinion it needs a lot of these 1 for 1 to have an impact.

I personally wonder about the benefits of these arrangements. Seems kind of artificial. Also, though your amount goes up on your campaign page, your funding is actually not changed, as your spending a dollar for every dollar you get. Though it would take a ton of these for this to happen, you could theoretically fall short of your funding needs even if your goal is reached, as you've "paid back" a chunk of your contributions.

I don't think it is worth the time and energy to swap dollar pledges. You've got a campaign to run and $1 pledges feel like a distraction. Why not instead find projects whose interests are similar to your own and offer to swap endorsements?
