They charge $19 if your campaign is successful and only $9 if it's not. When you mention them in a Tweet they retweet back. They say they have a 50% success rate. Give useful tips etc. also.
If you're willing to do a little investment, $10 -or $20 if your campaign succeeds, instead of large sums of other services, then backercamp could also be useful for your PR.
Backercamp is a good company to go with. I've used them a couple of times now and for $19 (you only pay half if your campaign isn't successful) it's a pretty good deal. They retweet your tweets, mention you and put your campaign on their Tumblr blog. They also have tons of advice when you launch and are always available to answer questions. It's a win/win situation with them and they are very trust worthy. Highly recommend them. If you use them tell Beatriz I recommended them.
Backercamp and Kicktraq are two different things. I use both. No cost on Kicktraq - upside is it costs nothing and it's just another way of getting your campaign in front of people.
I sadly don't use twitter very much but know that i need to. For 20.00 there is very minimal risk and if they get me 20.00+ in backers it is money well spent.
I will use them , I will let them know you and this forum sent me, if I am unhappy I will buy all your stuff and break it I like both of your projects btw.
You can't do anything but win with Backercamp. They are very open and will make suggestions on how you can promote your campaign, give spreadsheets and offer speaking with them via Skype. Don't know how you couldn't at least get a few backers with them. Check out their blog on Tumblr http://backercamp.tumblr.com/.
Please don't break anything. It's made to be used and enjoyed :]
The edison lamp is awesome, just too expensive for me at the moment. Some day. I just signed up and emailed her and mentioned you. So thanks for the advice.
Their tublr looks great and real comments on their posts but they get very little exposure. Such is the nature of something young. I'll let you know my feeling but again low risk so im in.
I know the Franken Edison Light is a little on the high end for a lot of people but it's all handmade and takes a lot of labor to put it together. Don't know if you missed our two other projects Versi http://kck.st/199JZiZ and http://kck.st/1a3gfRn
