The second day of the campaign I mentioned the Kickstarter staff in a tweet and the next day we were a staff pick on the homepage... that is more of a lucky fluke than a marketing strategy though. The most effective "marketing" has just been to try to add value to other folks out there either by backing or giving feedback on their game, having a real conversation at a game conference, or just basically being a normal, nice person who is interested in things and to try not to spam people with my project.
