    S'Mother the Musical

    by adamaria1 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 8:15 pm

    Hi-
I just joined this community and am so looking forward to making things happen for my Kickstarter campaign that began just a mere 3 days ago. It's running for 26 more days.
I wrote a funny book that was released by Abrams Publishing in 2011. Had a lot of success with it.
As I'm first and foremost a musician (and work with Elton John and his band), the idea hit me when the book came out that the book could and should be turned into a musical for the theater. The book is called, "S'Mother: The story of a man, his mother, and the thousands of altogether insane letters she's mailed him". Unfortunately, it's all very true!
My musical friend, Eve Nelson, and I have recently written several very funny, quirky songs based on some of my mother's letters to me and some nutty experiences I've gone through growing up as an only child.
We're looking to get funding to attach a proper playwright who can thread the whole story together for the stage, and also locate a good producer who might be able to put everything else together.
Any assistance on achieving our funding goal of $10,000 would be GREATLY appreciated.
Eve and I both know that there are theater fans out there, but more importantly, and thanks to people like Trey Parker, John Cameron Mitchell and Jeff Whitty, we know the stage is attracting more "HIP" subject matter like S'Mother.
And who doesn't have or know or WANTS to hear more about an extremely overprotective, crazy mother who means well?
Keeping my fingers crossed that the public will be interested.
    All the best-
    Adam Chester

Did you cut and paste that? lol. Kind of hard to read. Would space out your paragraphs next time. How's the campaign going?

This looks awesome! I love musicals and the relationship between you and your mother is very entertaining.

Thanks, 8bit! Hoping we get the funding, but if not, I'm definitely networking to get us the proper playwright and/or producer...so all good!
