Setting a reachable goal so that you can be fully funded within a day or two can really help the hype generated by your campaign.
There is usually a pretty slow period during the middle of a campaign, don't let it get you down. Keep your social media active with useful and relevant content, and try to reach out to influencers and local journalists. Bloggers and journalist will see the campaign as much more newsworthy it is apparent that many people are already interested. This is where having reachable goals comes in handy again.
