Ethereon is a VR adventure game that takes full advantage of the VR medium. While other VR projects are conversions of console games, and others cause sim-sickness, this game is a peaceful, relaxing and serene puzzle based experience that we think a lot of people will enjoy.
It has the style of Myst and Riven and is designed by a Riven artist who also worked at DreamWorks. He has teamed up with another artist from DreamWorks who also worked at Pixar! With this caliber of talent, the Ethereon experience will be amazing. But it is very hard to get the story out there, and get people to realize how big VR will become.
Tony Davidson has spent 18 months developing the game. Scott Martin joined him in the summer of 2014 to help finish the demos and get the project to the Kickstarter campaign stage. The game is already designed. The demos are testing very well. People love it! But the team has no budget left and is looking to the crowdfunding community to raise funds. Game projects cost millions of dollars. But this project is asking from $38,500 (for a basic version) to $200,000 (all the bells and whistles).
When people investigate this project, and see the power team behind it, we think that they too, will want good virtual reality content. When you or someone you know gets a VR headset in the coming months, Ethereon will be a shining example of the right kind of VR content that can pave the way for many more games.
