Hey guys! I'm an avid fan of Kickstarter (backed 20+ projects since I joined the community last year), and I recently launched my own campaign for Lazy Creatures, my loungewear line:
http://kck.st/1qc9XKcI'm 16% funded currently, but most of it has been from external sources (89%), and support from the Kickstarter community has been milder than expected.
Here's what I've been doing so far to market the campaign:
1. Facebook: Asking friends & family to spread the word. They have been so, so kind in posting about my project on Facebook - this is where most of my pledges came from.
2. Instagram: I've been liking pictures with relevant tags and getting more followers on Instagram. This hasn't converted into any pledges, but it's a great way to start building a brand following.
3. Blogs: I've contacted 27 blogs so far offering free samples, and received 3 responses. I'll be sending samples out to them next week, and hopefully I'll get a mention before the campaign ends. This was poor planning on my part - I should've sent out samples before launch.
4. Mailing List: I have a tiny mailing list of 58 people who signed up on my website before launch. I haven't checked how many have backed my project, but the click-through rate on the e-mail was pretty good (39.7%).
Going forward, I'll be continuing with my Instagram & Blog strategy, and will look into Twitter as well.
Please let me know what you think about the campaign! Any feedback would be insanely helpful (:
