Hi all,
My first Kickstarter (
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1798348595/calendar-arc-an-elegant-one-page-productivity-cale) is down to 10 days to go and is 13% to target.
I had no real appreciation of how to do marketing - I'm a software engineer with no sales experience, so promotion and "selling" a product is something completely foreign. Suffice to say, next time I try a crowdfunding project I will do a lot more prep work for the campaign prior to launching, or enlist some professional marketing help.
One thing that I've found is having a well presented project can help immensely. We were staff pick on day 2 and in the last three days have been on the Happenings newsletter and the featured publishing project for a day. Based on everything that I've read, the way your campaign information is presented on the Kickstarter site, as well as a product website, helps towards getting noticed by Kickstarter. Our backer numbers increased after each of these events.
Looking forward to completing out the campaign, whether we hit the target or not!
Thanks,
Dean
