From watching friends run comic book kickstarters: If you haven't networked with other comic book creators you need to do it. Especially those who have a similar audience because most are willing to share your project and help another creator reach fans.

I haven't compared the two so I don't know for sure which converts better I can just give you my opinion. I'm not sure which type of facebook ad you're doing, if it's a promoted post then you can upload an image and include the link in the text. Not sure how that works with the call to action thing since I stopped using facebook ads before they added the call to action option.
