To echo some of the previous comments (which I wish I followed myself earlier on in my project), I think momentum begets momentum. The longer you hold out a certain pledge, especially a large one, the longer it will take for you to build momentum. In future crowdsourcing attempts I might wait a week...

This is definitely a major problem for me. I'm a procrastinator by trade, and to add to that I'm a fairly reserved person who was raised never to ask others for help, particularly financial assistance! I've clearly had to step out of my comfort zone a bit for my current project...
