It's not a bad idea to reach out to producers, but be prepared for the strong chance that you will not hear back. It's hard to get initial funders because if your campaign hasn't been successful yet, people are less likely to take interest.

Most recommendations I have heard is to get the ball rolling with getting support from people you already know. So I'm not sure what the most efficient way to spend advertising dollars would be! My initial donations have been from family and friends. The majority of my traffic has come from Facebook.

I have backed products that make my life more convenient. One of my favourites was the nGroove snap, a magnet based phone mount.

For me it was only two days, but my goal is only $500, so it wasn't so difficult.
