I am already registered with Amazon payments. But as sole proprietorship. They don't require an LLC. I am wondering what the benefit is?

Does anybody have any tips on creating an LLC before a launch? Is it necessary ? Can I just form it when I know the project is going to be successful? I think a separate website is key. Allows for a home for the project and also helps build SEO.
