You should worry, but it is less risky these days than it was in the past.
Still, if you want long-lasting gains, it takes hard work, time, and the proper nutrition and supplements. Spend the money you would have on a legit trainer and/or nutritionist that knows your goals. -

I agree that you will save money by targeting your immediate fanbase. Growing it through word of mouth and giving them ROI by liking and following is good too. Sometimes you'll get a bite from cold advertising if you target it properly. -

I've known about Kickstarter for years now, but only recently became really interested in it. I'm helping my wife prep for the pre-launch of her campaign. I joined this forum to make contacts and try and learn as much as possible.
