I always suspected that people offering to promote my kickstarter day-1 were doing it just for the money. The fact that I got 3 emails for "promotion" the same day I launched my kickstarter was a bit surprising to me. Thank-you for this information on do-s and don't-s.

Though you can't directly fund your own Kickstarter I think it's fair to give money to a friend and have them pledge. You're investing in the future of your project's success at your own expense.
