I quite agree with you on this. Most agencies if not all are out there to deceive new creators in my opinion. You can actually do all the marketing via Facebook yourself. I did a couple of pre launch ads on Facebook and i was getting leads $1.5 to 2.5/lead.

There are actually many PR services out there but can't figure out which one actually works well for Kickstarter campaign. I think one of the reasons why some people cancel their pledges on a particular project is due to competition. Some backers may back multiple similar projects but eventually choose one or two in the end. If a project is unique and the only active, Pledge cancellation could be extremely low.

Instead of sending potential leads to kickstarter draft page while don't you try using a landing page.
I think conversion is much more better on a custom landing page.

That was an awesome tip event though the thread is old but it's quite relevant to me.
I am currently working on my prelaunch campaign trying to build up momentum before launch.
