@odin - It depends on your needs. Are you looking for a CRM? Database of journalists? Way to send mass emails?

It's strange because on the second day after I posted my kickstarter I received two emails from different PR companies contacting me about using their services to help get more attention for my campaign and they claimed to have either helped 500+ projects or were the #1 crowdfunding marketing, but when I go to their website they don't have any of the projects that they helped posted up. I'm not sure if it would be a safe call to go with them because my kickstarter is just to make a print run for my webcomic so I don't know if it would be too big of a move for me to actually seek out or take up a PR persons offer. I also don't have the funds to pay for it right now and I can't find on their site if it's a pay later or pay now situation @^@ Crowdfunding can get pretty overwhelming...

Don't waste your time or money on those PR companies. Crowd funding is all about getting YOUR crowd (family, friends, etc) and inspired strangers to support your project. Concentrate instead on your social circle and encouraging them to do word of mouth. I'm doing a crowd funding in two weeks, and I'm talking to everyone I think would or could contribute to my project. Crowd funding is no time to be shy or fearful of rejection. What's the worse someone can say? No. Then move on. All the best. Cheers

Thank you Jeanet, I'll keep trying harder to put myself out there a little better.

I'd have to agree with @jeanetmarie for your campaign in particular. At CrowdfundingPR.org, we have NEVER contacted people directly on platforms (as this is against TOS). We primarily rely on referrals.

Definitely think your own social circles and doing your own marketing is the best place to start. Hiring a PR agency has greater value once you've gained some momentum or if you have a very newsworthy or innovative technology, unless you can afford to hire them before your campaign to help put together the outreach plan and craft your story.

There is no #1 "crowdfunding marketing" website. This is coming from a guy who runs CrowdCrux.com, KickstarterForum.org and other websites. Every project is different, as is every niche. In my opinion, anyone who claims to be an "expert" or "#1" in crowdfunding is not. Even though I've been blogging for over a year on the topic, I don't consider myself to be an "expert" on crowdfunding, though I've certainly done my homework and put in a lot of hours.
