I have tried such a thing before, but I have never succeeded in raising any funds as the entire campaign is self centered. People prefer if it helps someone else or benefits a charity.

I thought this too, though I saw one project that was nothing but a guy raising money to move back to California from Oregon. It was not for any charitable purpose. He just missed living in Cali. He had raised over $1100 on a $1000 goal. It doesn't get much more selfish than that, not that selfishness is altogether bad.

Sometimes you need to help yourself before you can help others.
