Edited this a wee bit since the campaign is now over. Feel free to ask me anything!

    Hey everyone,

    Our original thread is here.

    Summary
Tabletop Simulator is an online tabletop sandbox game with multiplayer physics. The sandbox nature of the game means there are no rules to stop you from playing however you want. Want to pick up and throw someone’s piece, go for it, but they might not ask you back to play. This freedom allows near limitless gaming possibilities; with a deck of cards alone you can play hundreds of games. In Tabletop Simulator we supply you the tools, so you have the freedom to play anything. Play a game of chess one minute, and with one click continue your epic role-playing adventure!

    Recent Update
This campaign was extremely successful! We raised over 1200% of our goal. Our original goal amount was $3000 and we raised almost $39,000. All of our stretch goals were achieved and everyone has been extremely supportive! I'm working on a post mortum that will probably be released on my blog soon. I'll post it here once it's ready!

Feel free to ask us anything regarding our Kickstarter, what we did to promote, anything!

    Thanks!

Wow - just awesome. So I assume you had a pretty substantial base of support entering your kickstarter campaign?

    Congrats! Very inspiring.

I'm realizing now how important is the preparation before launching the campaign... o_O

Actually, not really. We made a Mana Warfare mod for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and that was pretty much the only people who knew about it. It all came from what we did afterwards. If there's one thing I learned about this though, it's that to be prepared beforehand, by getting the word out in advance, just so people are aware that you have a Kickstarter forthcoming.

I've been writing out stuff during this entire process so maybe I'll post about it when we're completely done!

Yeah, it is very important. While we had the website and all our social media areas up and running, we didn't do any pre-promoting. We did all our promoting after the Kickstarter was up and running. But I really recommend to do pre-promoting beforehand, it'd make a huge difference.

It's pretty awesome to see other people's project successfully funded. I'm running my own project right now on Kicksarter. A dark horror story about cannibals. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/48 ... bal-family

I'm now realizing how much having contacts and support from inner circle matters in the crowdfunding campaigns.. Plz share how you managed to do it. As whenever I write to Facebook contacts, it feels like spam no matter how much you tailor to them, I guess it's just part of the whole crowd funding thing. Keeping my fingers crossed for my project though :D

Our strategy has just to been proactive every single day. We had no idea when we got started, that this would turn into a full time job. You have to be on top of your Kickstarter every day. You can't just sit and hope the pledges will come in. Every day was all about finding new places to post, getting the word out, etc.

I woke up today and saw a boom of pledges. Then found out we got on the front page of Reddit. In fact, our largest amount of supporters (and now total pledges) have come from Reddit. One we saw how we did early on in the campaign on Reddit, we focused a lot on there. It's tough to get that one bump though and thankfully we had a couple, but today was the biggest one!

The other thing is to make sure to write everything down. Keep track of your popular sites, be organized, make a press/media list, etc.
