WHAT INSPIRED THIS FILM?

Vesuvius was inspired by my best friend who was killed in Iraq on march 31 2008. Sergeant Dayne D.Dhanoolal.

Dayne was very passionate about protecting the ones he loved. So it was no surprise he joined the army soon after 911 happened.


In 2007 and early 2008, often we’d Skype and talk about video games and ideas for movies we’d love to see in theaters. One idea i remember we came up with, was a futuristic Sci - Fi action film about a soldier that had to survive an onslaught from members of his own team after they were brainwashed.

Now that i have the opportunity to make this film, i can finally bring what we both spoke about years ago to life. When i wrote the script i modeled the main character after him. A strong leader, witty, yet disciplined and selfless. On the day he passed, after Dayne finished his tour, a member of his team was unable to complete his. Without hesitation he covered for his teammate. The rest was fate.
