Cookie Dunk Dunk iOS Puzzle Game Campaign

    by eeining82 » Thu Feb 27, 2014 5:10 pm

    Hello everyone!

I released a Kickstarter campaign for my company about a week ago. We have been working on our first full featured release for about 7 months now and needed help to see it through to the end. Our campaign started off strong but has been quiet the last few days. I am new at this, so I welcome any advice on the campaign or possibly how to generate more traffic.

    Thanks

Few comments: (always take my advice with a grain of salt - there are no experts in this space as it's very new).

For anyone else thinking of launching a Kickstarter, I would recommend not adding "marketing" to the budget.
    1. You don't need marketing money in order to get the project made. Having a lower goal = greater chance of success.
    2. For early stage projects, getting a good product-market fit with small user groups is more important than scaling up and marketing the hell out of it. You only do that when you know you have product-market fit. Good article on this: http://www.startup-marketing.com/the-startup-pyramid/

What kind of equipment is the 8k going towards?

How do you usually market iOS games (see that you've done a few)?

How do people find out about new iOS games? Do they hear about them on a blog and then look it up in the app store, or are they usually browsing the app store and yours looks interesting?

Thank you so much for taking the time out to critique our project. That's a very good point about the marketing. The 8k is going towards computers for our studio. Right now we have more interns and employees and not enough hardware. We haven't really marketed any other games. We took over a local app company's game division and their titles. We released a update for one and marketed it to the current fan base and gaming sites. I've rarely looked online for new titles. I find most games by browsing and looking at the featured games on the store. We do have a little pull with Apple and will get it featured when it is released.

I would recommend marketing. You already have excellent content on your FB page, pay to promote it. I really like the out takes from your video. I didn't notice if you used that in your campaign but you should post that as an update. Theres already a market for your game that seems a bit similar to candy crush. I would just promote my FB posts and target candy crush users. If anything they will at least view your campaign. Or you can set it up so that you only get charged for users that click on the link to your campaign. But at the same time, Cost per click on FB could be quite high, so be sure to use a tool like Power Editor in order to edit the amount you choose to pay for cost per click. That way you don't get charged a dollar every time someone clicks on your link to your campaign. Good Luck.
