Hey everyone, be sure to list any agencies that you had a bad experience with on our thread here:

Yes, keep your email address private and use an inbox that you never check that's listed publicly.

Real marketing companies do not do outbound sales. They rely on their reputation in our community to gain business. If you build it they will come is a true philosophy, as long as you are doing good work people will know how you are.

I have tried countless marketing companies during my past projects, and none of them made me reach my goal. Kickstarter projects need a single marketing company who can raise all the funds themselves, single handedly, and if they can't do that - guaranteed in a contract, they are a scam. Plain and simple.

I would also beware if a company does not work on commission. I mean - if they are so good at their work, why don't they work for commission for all the live projects? It seems reasonable to me: either you can raise funds for projects or you can't. And if you are able to raise funds then you are able to work on commission. No contracts are necessary, our word and agreement as founders is enough.

thanks for the heads up though.

only problem with that is then you miss out on messages important to the campaign, or from potential angel investors.

Indeed, today this topic is very current and I am sorry that we have to go through such ugly things and I really can't understand what is going on in the minds of those people.
Don't they understand how absurd a marketing scam is? Maybe one day they will understand that such methods are no longer current.
I personally also started a business some time ago but I did not do such nonsense and I got up with other business ideas much better and more efficient so that now I can be proud of the results.

There are hundreds of such companies and no one stops them, so yeah, they don't really bother and continue to scam people.

I completely agree with you. I'm afraid my children might fall for it. As it happened to me when I was younger. I understand that children are now wiser and understand everything better than us, but still. My bad experience was that I fell for significant discounts on one site. There were also good reviews from people. I didn't know then that on this site, checks could be forged. I ordered beautiful things for myself at that time, and it did not cost me a small amount, but there were a lot of things. And after that, I kept waiting for my order, but it did not come to me for a month, and when I decided to recheck this site or contact support, I did not respond. So I'm worried that my kids will fall for it, too, so I told them to read more here.
