I know this may sound controversial to some, but what's the point of hiring a PR agency at all? I talked to a big campaign once that said their project got picked up my the media on it's own, with zero PR at all. From what I gather, journalists are watching on kickstarter pretty actively. And if that is true, then PR has no value - and thus every agency is a scam.

Has anyone else on here got picked up in the media without any PR? I really think they are all scams, there is no point in hiring any of them if journalists are already seeing your product on their own.

Not all of them, but probably most of them yes.

I have heard Crowd PR is bad. Funded Today seems to be borderline as well. It is really important that when you're considering hiring a marketing agency for your campaign that you check the heck out of their past campaigns they've worked with. Don't just eye-ball it and make an emotional decision, do your research and think long and hard before ever making a hire.

After looking into all the marketing agency offers I received in my inbox, I am starting to think that they are all scams as well.

Try and check some references, its not that complicated.
