I'd say that overall it's been a positive experience. I've definitely learned a lot about effective marketing and how easy it is to throw your money away if not all of the pieces of the puzzle are there when it comes to investing in ads. I know that if I have other projects I want to share with people in the future that I'd like to use Kickstarter again if it makes sense....I'll just definitely go about some things differently. I'm grateful for forums like this and other resources that have been helpful during this 35 day process. Here's a link to my project if you want to check it out:

I would say its been pretty positive, but it's all a learning experience. There are so many scenarios and situations you don't expect to pop up, and you have to be able to adjust as quickly as possible. The problem we are dealing with now is how we sustain momentum, how do we keep people engaged? Would love to hear some feedback on this. Here's a link to my project if you want to check it out:

My experience with Kickstarter is not really good, especially when I found out that their search tool is poorly managed and it's not "renew itself frequently" as they said. Some certain project will always on the first page of "magic filter" without being featured as a "project we love" despite its successful (% funded) or duration (days left to go), while my campaign never shown on the first 3 pages. Of course, this is not something that fully decides the success of a campaign but it's will be important, especially for a new creator that just come to Kickstarter and don't really have a huge fanbase or follower.

The positive I had on Kickstarter mostly came from the others creator that gave me a lot of good advice and my backers that decided to come back to my campaign after the 3rd relaunch (the first 2 had failed miserably).

    hi everyone, :D
This is our first project on Kickstarter. We were frustrated when the campaign started at the first day, we hardly sleep well every night. We thought a lot of promotion method, but few of them worked out a good result.
We post ads on FB and google. In deeds, they did bring traffic to our campaign page, but not the finally backers.

Now we put a lot of time on finding hot forums to present our project which is here, http://kck.st/2Erl2Ak

here is our ads video, please let us know what you think about.

Sorry for the delay. It is hard to get successfully funded. If I do another campaign next time, I will spend more time on collecting potential backers list and send them e-mail or promotion flyer before the campaign start.

Now is ok of us, we found the way slowly. Time and money has been spent.

    Hi Alan,

Sadly, It's been 1 month, and your project is not reaching 50% yet, I doubt that you can get your campaign funded in such a tight schedule.
Nice wireless power bank tho. It seems like you do the promotion by yourself, which took a lot of time and effort to learn (especially to beginners), I would suggest if your budget is enough, you can find some trustable PR firm do the promotion for you. Then, you can focus more on the product, customers support, QC, etc.
Btw, I think your product fits my site well, let me know if you need a little push. Best of luck.

My first Kickstarter just kind of fell flat. I definitely didn't gain enough interest in my campaign, though there wasn't anything negative.

The current campaign I have launched, has already started out somewhat negatively, and I'm trying not to let it discourage me. It is the main reason I started searching for a forum like this, to glean some info and opinions. My new campaign is more of a 'dream' project. I had decided to first share it on FB to 3 groups I belong to that are related to my goal. Very briefly: I plan on purchasing a used camper, taking my dog on a cross country trip, documenting it from her perspective, and meeting the owners of the same breed of dog along the way. (We are a very devoted group, ha! Which is why I thought they would be supportive.) Anyway...the backlash on it was brutal. I was called a 'beggar' and asked why anyone would give me money to go on a 'vacation.' I tried explaining how a fundraiser works, and I repeatedly had to explain that yes, there were incentives. Bad start. That was yesterday; I didn't get a lot of sleep. So here I am reading for advice.

We've ran two campaigns in the past that were unsuccessful. We are running a third campaign for Augmented Reality greeting cards now that set more realistic goals. I think our failed campaigns really taught us about the importance of marketing and reaching out and those experiences have been positive in how we do things going forward. Even when we are not running a campaign of any sort, the experience has really taught us how to engage an audience and that has been priceless.
