Haven't run any ads for my campaign yet, but we are thinking about really digging into the keywords, demographics. It's been a slow start, but we are in the game!

Very interesting. I tried using facebook ads for a few days on my campaign. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/an ... ravel-ga-0

I was paying like 80 cents per a click and I had no way of knowing if those clicks were converting. I think I must have been doing it wrong.

Totally agree! We see Facebook Ads make the biggest difference in almost every campaign we work with or interview. It's important to get your targeting right, but once you find the correct audience(s), it's such an affordable way to get your project in front of the right people.

Without a doubt, Facebook ads are the fastest way to get new backers for your Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign. Even notable marketing agencies have sprung up just to run these types of ads for your campaign.

When you know what you’re doing, Facebook ads are extremely profitable and easy to deploy. However, if you have no idea how Facebook works, you’re gonna waste a lot of money advertising your campaign.

    I agree.

My employer Funded Today has worked with nearly 2,000 crowdfunding campaigns so far and, in our experience, social-media ads normally work best when they work at all.

Other techniques that are also effective, listed in their usual order of effectiveness (although some campaigns deviate from such norms), include cross-promotions, affiliate marketing, and public relations.

PR is very popular among campaigners, but it tends to bear fruit more slowly than other techniques, which renders it far more powerful in affecting sales for established businesses than pledges for fleeting campaigns.

Cross-promotions, by contrast, seem to be both underrated and underused, as we've found tremendous success with them (although not as much as with ads).
I work for Funded Today, which has helped hundreds of crowdfunding projects on Kickstarter and/or Indiegogo to raise over $175,000,000 altogether. How may we help you? Please learn more at www.funded.today and/or www.fundedtodayreviews.com

The key trick agencies (and crowdfunding marketers) don't tell you about using advertising to get a crowdfunding audience:

---> always filter for "Kickstarter", "Indiegogo", and "Crowdfunding" with your ads <---

Really, a lot of people just go into the ad platform and create psychographic ads that target the weekend hiker, or the drone enthusiast, but the main piece of the puzzle is missing - the love for crowdfunding.

    Here's why:

People who back projects on crowdfunding are a different breed of online shopper than everybody else. They're the people, the early adopters as marketers call it, who are willing to pay money for products that do not even exist on the market yet. They're the ones shelling out $10 or even $1,000 for things that aren't even made yet. Where else can you find that? Not from a regular online shopper that's for sure.

With that in mind, the crowdfunding backer and the online shopper are very different. Those who buy things online aren't necessarily people who are willing to pay money for things that aren't on the market yet. Usually, they'll pay for things and expect it in the mail within the next 2 days (thanks to Amazon Prime).

So - you MUST filter for someone who is interested in Kickstarter, Indiegogo and Crowdfunding. Then, dig down deeper and get into the niche of each of the psychographic groups you've been planning.

We had significant experience on Facebook. It is an excellent platform to target potential buyers.

Our campaign got funded within 72 hours and well on its way for the higher numbers. Anyone can take part in the referral program.

The most powerful thing you can do in order to get crowdfunding backers with your Facebook ads: The main mistake I see creators and founders make when approaching Facebook ads is that they go too generic.

If you target people who are already familiar with crowdfunding, you’ve already surpassed one of your two hurdles. These people already believe in the power of collectively pooling money into helping someone bring a completely new product to life.

That way, all you’re left to do is convince potential backers that your product is the best one out there.

Always filter for “crowdfunding”, “Kickstarter”, and “Indiegogo”for every single audience that you create.

You won’t have to first convince them about crowdfunding (since they already know). Now you just have to convince them that your new product is something that they really do want. It’ll simplify your life and marketing.
    • 1. Find the Audiences page within the Assets section of your Facebook Business Manager.
      2. Click Create Audience and choose Saved Audience.
      3. Choose locations, age gender, languages, depending on your project.
      4. In Detailed Targeting, include “crowdfunding”, “Kickstarter”, and “Indiegogo”
      5. Click Narrow Audience and fill in information for your project audience
Facebook advertising can be a little bit complicated to understand at first, but it can yield great results for your lead generation, crowdfunding campaign, and business beyond crowdfunding.
