Kickstarting an Interactive eBook on Polar Bears

    by dougk16 » Sat Dec 28, 2013 4:26 am

Hi all...love the vibe on these forums, everyone helping each other out.

My company released a campaign the other day here: http://kck.st/1kYxGFY

It's an educational eBook on Polar Bears for tablets that will contain all kinds of interactivity and games for all ages. Here's one game prototype we included, showing how polar bears sometimes hunt seals like crocodiles:

All this will be embedded in the book itself...it's really crazy what you can do nowadays for platforms like iBooks. I'd love to hear some feedback on the campaign, and how we could promote ourselves better...it's really a jungle out there!

    Thanks!

    - Doug

What kind of promotion and marketing have you been doing already? I would really make use of your team. If each person on your team got 10 people to pledge from their network, that would be 60 backers (twice as much as what you have now)

    Thanks for the reply!

We released the campaign right before Xmas and did a big push to a few thousand friends, family, and professional associates. And we heard...crickets! The few people that responded said they would donate after the holidays cause they were broke. So our impression is that the holidays was both financially and attention-wise a bad time to release.

We're planning a duplicate push again on Monday, so we'll see.

We're also expanding to do some cross promotion, we have a twitter account (https://twitter.com/polarfun), Tumblr (http://whydopolarbears.com) and a bunch of other fronts through PR on various blogs and twitter...our funding graph is still flat-lining though.

I would really reach out to people individually in your network. For these guys, direct email worked best: http://www.crowdcrux.com/learn-from-a-c ... ding-goal/
