FirstRateCrowd will need help in determining which way to go with their future crowdfunding project. You can help us answer this question.

Here are the three major reasons we chose Indiegogo. Please let us know your thoughts and recommendations.

Why we chose Indiegogo:
1. We considered Kickstarter but their rules do not allow our type of project on their platform. This would be seen as being in competition with Kickstarter.
2. Indiegogo has a mechanism to disperse a percentage of the funds collected back to us even if our full stated goal of $800,000 is not met. This allows us to continue to move forward.
3. Indiegogo is a well known and established platform.

Hey there. I don't understand your question. I get that you are wanting to build a crowdfunding platform and that you are going to use Indiegogo due to permissions. But what are are you wanting people to look at? Also the link didn't work when i tried it.

I would go with indiegogo they are far more friendly than Kickstarter even though they are slightly smaller.

We are using Indiegogo too - it is a great platform

I use Indeigogo because Kickstarter is not available in my country!

You don't need a prototype to be on Indiegogo.

Iniegogo is fine and yes they are more friendly, however, from our own experience it is not how friendly the platform or staff are it is how active and willing backers are.
We love Indiegogo's platform BUT we found Kicksatarter to fitted our campaign better and in many ways a little more professional - I don't mean that to denigrate Indiegogo in any way as they just have a more easy going type of outlook.
It mostly boils down to what suits you better and who you think will bring in the most backers to your project.
On a final note - Kickstarter is getting way too heavy with board game campaigns, it might be the thing right now but I have to say, if they are not careful their brand image will suffer if the perception becomes Kickstarter = board games.

I agree with most of the responses...we tried Kickstarter, got very little support, cancelled and relaunched on Indiegogo. So far much better from a support and placement standpoint. Good luck

While I haven't personally worked with an IGG rep to understand how supportive in hand-holding they are, it's a differentiation that makes me want to work with them.

There was one point made at the top of this thread about the flexible funding ability that IGG offers that KS does not. I think the option is one of the primary reasons IGG will always trail KS. If you need $10,000 to cover your tooling/mold and you only raise $8,000 and keep the $8,000, how the heck are you going to make the $10,000 purchase? I think this undermines the crowdfunding concept and really breaks the ability to build trust with potential backers. They want to know that if they invest/back you, you are fully committed - all or nothing.

Now - if you're using IGG with the fixed model, I think there are lots of reasons why you might consider IGG over KS. I would ignore the flexible funding feature though...
