Good advice, I too have set a reasonable goal (the minimum I would need to break even on fulfilling orders), and am reaching out to all of my family and friends trying to get their support on day 1.

I hope that I can share in your success! http://www.kickstarter.nevertanglelights.com

What do you think to have "paid" backers - friends and family, whoa re going to back your campaign?
And if you think this is good strategy, what share of the money is appropriate to be "backed" in such way?
    5, 10, 25%?
    Or even more?

Great tips and thank you! I'm getting prepared for my first project and I'm still building up my own email list, but your advice is very useful!

What could you do if you don't have any friend to make first pledges?

3 point is very interesting. I think it could work with my niche.

It funded in less than 12 hours. Here are the main factors that I think contributed to the quick funding:

    1. I set a reachable goal

For my goal I chose the minimum that I needed to raise. This obviously makes it more likely that it'll fund but it also makes you look like a winner. No one wants to back something that is 1% funded and looks bleak, but people love to be apart of something that was fully funded early on.

    2. I reached out to close friends and family personally right before launch

The day before I launched I reached out to about 50 of my closest friends and family with an individual, personalized message. I told them about the Kickstarter I was going to launch and that Kickstarter takes into account the number of backers so even pledging $1 would help a lot. Many ended up pledging much more than a dollar.

    3. I partnered with someone who had successfully run a similar campaign

This person had over 1,500 backers from his previous project on his email list. We worked out a deal so that on the day I launched he sent out a message to his email list about my project.

Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have questions!

    Hoku,

Brilliant idea on partnering up with another campaign creator. How do you go about finding someone in your category that will be launching close to you?

I followed a similar strategy with an Indiegogo project I ran a while back. Now I am finalizing my Kickstarter project for a website so thanks for this post! :D

Very awesome advice! One I can add is try to be involved with your potential audience as much as possible beforehand, even if you aren't directly setting a date for your Kickstarter.

For my tabletop game we did a lot of public playtesting and gained fans that way, then when we launched we hit our goal within 25 hours. It's still live so take a look!
