I assumed would be scaled to your own profit margin .... like 35% of your own margin and taking into consideration paying the researchers designers and manufacturer that should be more funded today's share should be probably about 3-10% of the sales that come through their referral. In my own opinion .. if your profit margin is bigger than 25 on the actual product means you ain't giving much to the backers in the first place. Is my logic wrong?

Even worse: It's 35% of all sales from the moment they get involved + the USD5000 upfront. For FT it's a goldmine and without any risks...

I think your margin on a healthy Kickstarter project should be around 50-60%. Remember that it's not only the costs of your product that you need to recover, but also enough funds to actually continue your (new) business after your Kickstarter (and then I am not even taking your hours spent into account). In our case we have spent more money on the preparation of our product and the marketing of the Kickstarter than we actually have funded right now. But this is money well spent and we would not have our product ready for market without it. With the Kickstarter we want to create enough stock that we can use after the Kickstarter to become profitable. Economics are more than just producing something and making a small profit on it :)

Yeah sorry I already took this into manufacturer cost ... I know what you are talking about ... I consider that kickstarting should cover the first full batches of production not only the kickstarting one ... depends on your product ... some you just cant make profitable if you dont make at least 500 at once anyway ... 35% of all it's crazy stupid ... makes no sense ... I understand giving sales commission on tracked referrals but not on actual growth made organically by the campaign itself ...

I have not signed up with FT but I have spent a fair amount of time on calls with one of their account managers. My impression at this point is that FT can work great for some projects and can fail for others. Success with FT will depend on a variety of factors, here a few:

    1) Their costs are negotiable so you want to push for the lowest upfront fee and % of pledges.
    2) The success of FT is heavily dependent on how well your project fits into their existing Facebook ad audience portfolio. You want to get some insight into why FT thinks they have audiences that will suite your project. If they don't already have successful audience built up that suites your project, you are unlikely to get the result you are hoping for.
    3) You need to make very sure that your reward margins can actually absorb the additional 20% cost based on total pledges. FT could significantly drive up your pledge volume while at the same time eroding your profit margins.
    4) You need to ensure that your entire supply chain (product and customer facing) can handle a potentially very large increase product volume. Can you supply the necessary product units and how much will that cost you to manage and execute?

No one that I know that used FT paid $5K upfront. You should definitely negotiate a big discount.

The best offer I received from FT is US$2500 upfront and 31%.... Changes the numbers a little bit, but still, if you have not inflated your prices to accommodate this 31% and a bit to divide the US$2500 invested over the backers they bring in, it will not help your project any bit.

I`ve put a handful of the projects they mention on their website in Kicktraq and some really have 100's of backers (some even 1000's), but most projects more or less double/triple the amount of backers and that just doesn't cover the % and the upfront... It will probably work/benefit you if you setup your project with FT in mind though...
Currently live on Kickstarter with Robusto: 70s Futuristic Titanium Watch. Stronger than Steel.. Funded in 24 hours, yay!

is it just me or most of you dont really know the latest updates about funded today current situation?

Alkey, an indiegogo project spend large sums of money for funded today services to no avail. so bear in mind, not only you are gambling on funded today ready crowd but also the fact that their crowd doesnt support indiegogo project. they prefer it to be from Kickstarter and US/EU based campaigns rather than some eastern asian campaigns.

Its one thing to know how FT works, but its another to understand the crowd they offered.

If you are not US/EU campaign running on Kickstarter,

    forget it.

hahaha are you ganging up on me because what I said in the other threads? whats rude saying is it just me or most of you dont really know the latest updates? its an update. a fact. not an assumption. how can I offend people by saying such thing? I just dont get it.

we discussed on the other thread about how FT failed to deliver their promise. thats all. its one thing if you never guarantee any success from the start, but claiming to be the best and miserably FAILED, thats another.

    dont you agree?

hahahahahahahahahahahhahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha i am sooooo glad to read your comments!!!!!!!!!

they almost dupe me out of 4 thousand dollars and from time to time, i drop to this forum just to keep encouraging people to stay away from this company. they have their own marketing agents here but i dont see them around anymore.

guess they know its no use to market their service here. its a scam.

come and prove me wrong FT.
