I first heard of Kickstarter a few years ago, when I was hit for the first time with the concept of crowdfunding, when a friend of mine was looking for different ways of financial aid to complete a technology project.
Since then I've tried to document more and more to understand exactly how it works.

I first heard about crowdfunding when a classmate of mine in high school had her house catch on fire and our classmates created a gofundme campaign to facilitate some extra expenses for clothes and other household items. Since then I have seen many of these sites created and all with the same goals in mind; to raise money for those who need it for a significant purpose.

I heard about crowdfunding around 2010; I heard about kickstarter. I first used the site to publish a novel I wanted to write called a "Farewell to Youth". The campaign didn't fund but since then the concept and promise of crowdfunding has fascinated me.

I first got involved helping a friend with a project to get a Hotdog concession here in Spokane, WA. He was doing a retro-theme and I helped with photography and video/audio editing. Didn't get funded, but was very fun. Made me think to try one myself. The video is still up on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpYDqQ8afDI Pretty Funny! :D

I discovered kickstarter years ago, thanks to my friend who already had a successful kickstarter campaign. It was so unique back then, now its difficult to find somebody who havent heard about kickstarter or crowdunfing in general.

I have always thought the idea of crowdfunding to be a great way for people with great ideas to get funding.
It can be very difficult to get angel investing for an idea or project so i think it breaks down the barriers for many people. Including myself :D
Your support for my current Kickstarter campaign would be awesome!

When I was at Toronto's Fan Expo Comic Con last month, a bunch of fellow indie comic publishers told me about their successful campaigns. I knew of Kickstarter, but didn't think about using it because I'm Canadian. But I found out Canada can now use the site and based on the praise given to Kickstarter (versus that of Indiegogo and Gofundme), I thought, "why not - let's give it a shot!" My campaign for my comic book Paper Rock Scissors N' Stuff Wars is up and already at 91% funded. Happy so far with my Kickstarter experience.

I actually first heard about Kickstarter when in my studio class when I was in college. I majored in industrial design so I guess it makes sense, I mean, we were designing and prototyping products for class. I was encouraged to start my own campaign back then but I was too scared to try. I only just recently mustered up the courage to start my very first Kickstarter campaign.

A friend of mine was going to finance the creation of a graphic novel. The book ended up being financed and the graphic novel is now been delivered, Since then I have been involved in a least one other Kickstarter campaign.

To put in bluntly I first heard of Crowdfunding from Rocketbeans TV (german internet tv nerd channel now on youtube) and the chances of the gaming development industry which flourishes there. I found that by using crowdfunding amazing projects could be realized. It is also a great way to get early feedback and first sellings, from everyone for everyone.
And before I knew it, I find myself in this forum, looking for help for my own upcoming campaign, haha!
