What are some other good forums?

    by seeingreen » Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:40 pm

Hey I am fairly new to the whole crowdfunding thing and to promoting. Just curious what are some good places to promote. I have done the Facebook and twitter thing. I've also done some craigslisting. But I've never really been a blogger or followed forums or used chatrooms. I get that I will need to become more involved in discussion as opposed to just spamming, so now I just need to know some good places to connect with people who may be interested it my projects or just things I'm interested in. Any tips on some good places would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I would try using the google "search by discussions" feature to discover forums for key words. You could also try the Crowdfundingforum, which is another one related to crowdfunding.

In my experience, you should pick out 3 or so forums and become super active rather than picking like 30 and do one post on each. Active in terms of contributing to the community.

For your kind of project, I feel like if you could get any traction on the images through redit, imgur, instagram, pinterest, tumblr, or creating posts with a theme on buzzfeed, you would benefit immensely. If you join a community, I would recommend contributing knowledge and discussions about interesting topics related to your niche or your experience raising money.

You have stumbled upon an outpost in the Wild West.
Look at the date this forum was created.
There is really no other forum like this one--Vapprstarter and Sbriggman are the gurus of crowd funding.
You found this place. You are lucky you did, when you did. Soon KS and crowdfunding
in general (google JOBS act) will be FLOODED with wagon trains, eyes filled with stars--pick axe and pan in hand
waiting for the gold to fall from the heavens.
    Carpet baggers will soon follow.
Drill down in every thread and start bathing in the warm sea of Kickstarter.
Watch out--the water is calm and crystal clear-- but it is deep--and there are leviathans down there. . .
You just married a beautiful woman who loves you! Maybe she does have some hot friends, but you are
    Newlyweds! Why ask?

    Hey guys,

I appreciate you encouraging users to stay on the forum :D. At the same time, our job is to be helpful to each other. We should encourage creators to find forums and groups in their niche (gaming, comics, board games, etc) and list resources when possible. The important thing is for them to come back here and report what worked out well for them in terms of marketing and engaging that community so that other creators can benefit from that knowledge :).

    Thanks sbriggman,

Your advice has been very helpful. Not just with this question but I've gained a lot of knowledge from reading your responses to other peoples questions as well.
