    Slowing down about halfway in...

    Hello all!

    So we started out pretty strong, nearly reaching 60% of our $30k goal in about 5 days. It's been a turtle crawl since then and we've barely reached 77% in the following 9 days. I've read that the middle of the campaign tends to be the toughest but it's definitely making us a bit concerned about reaching our goal. Anybody have some advice on recreating some momentum for our campaign? Any thoughts and feedback on the campaign as a whole is welcome as well!

    What we've tried and also thinking about doing:

    Tried BackerClub and it was great. Considering boosting my project with feature position and adding email blast option. Does anybody have some feedback on the boosts?

    Just launched a FB ads campaign and managed to get about 80 clicks on 5000 people reached. Unfortunately, none of those clicks have led to conversions. Wondering if I should get more aggressive with FB marketing.

    Press/media coverage- something we've been working on but frankly, nobody's really looking to write about a campaign that's 'almost there.' Wondering what others might've done on this front.

    We're open to pretty much ANYTHING else!

    Hi James, we spoke on the phone but you didn't follow up as I offered quite a few options, perhaps you didn't see my email reply?

    Just to quickly follow up for any one else stuck on the same issues as you:
    - For FB, you really need to be focused on your niche + perhaps based in the US + the option of targeting people who know about Crowdfunding.
    - Regarding Press, you need to fine tune your pitch. Are you connecting with them after doing research on similar posts they've written, including photos and a writeup they can easily use in their piece about you, did you identify what makes M A D E stand out and why they might need it in their lives (Identify a problem > then solving an issue...)

    Hi James,

    Congrats on reaching your goal! I took a look at your campaign page and it looks great. Who doesn't love well designed products made to last? I also think the idea of a foot scanner is cool.

    Have you tried promoting on other social media like Pinterest?

    A lot comes up if you search for men's shoes, it could be another place to reach your interest group. :)

    Hello,

    Our campaign is experiencing the same thing after 7 days. We're about 60% through and it's getting depressing.

    Facebook ads are converting at a 1% rate so it's getting expensive and cashflow is getting tight!
    Backer club has been very useful at the beginning but we don't see much results anymore.

    Damn, I never thought a KS campaign could be that nerves breaking!

    The value of $1300 of sales = the $379 BC fee + discount to BC members? Just checking :)

    that's when you need to get some advertising going, its normal, you just need to handle it properly ;)

    I remember you guys from our gifts site. We spoke about featuring you, we did it - then heard nothing back at all...didn't leave a good impression of Smoko to be honest, so that wasn't handled properly. :roll:

    The begining and end is where you'll have the most pledges. The middle is the toughest. Try some FB marketing and press releases. Good luck!

    Am New to Crowd-Funding, but have been dealing with sales and salesmen for years, and one of the most import things is repetition. Now its been said that Millennials and a large hunk of the market are immune to adds, and for items of mixed-appeal, this has likely proven true, BUT for people that say - like your item, but are not sure they can justify the cost, it really does pay to be persistent.

    It's said that it takes, on average 11-exposures to an idea to get most people to seriously consider it (early adopters are an exception to the norm). With Twitter and other 'High Speed' connections - this is likely even more true, due to the frequency of change.

    But if someone is already 'In-Like' with your item, and sees it enough times, (especially if there is some change in the presentation - showing additional points of interest or value), that ONE TIME THEY DECIDE TO BUY was how many times you needed to present the product - nothing less would due.

    Also, if you can mix in articles that have a 'feeling' of the type of mood or quality you are trying to present - do that too. Having normal tweets, posts and such that are not related to your campaign but that support the emotional tug of it are very useful. I personally share lots of info on Space, Open-Source Software and also on a TV Show Fan-community, and people who like my opinions and contributions on those fronts have been very supportive on the Kickstarter. In fact, my first backer was a gentleman who uses a free Mac app I've been developing for years. We're not funded yet, but the same people keep putting likes on the discussions, and after a while, that can turn into a commitment.
