    Social Media Showdown...Facebook or Instagram?

    by gear-wise » Thu Feb 26, 2015 3:31 am

Hi everyone. Wanted to throw out a question to see which app you tend to use more...Facebook? Or Instagram?

Any thoughts on which one might be better to use to promote a kickstarter?

My thinking is Facebook because you can post more information, but instagram seems easier to reach more people...is this true?

(I've only been using instagram for a few months so I'm still learning it)...

    Thanks,
    Kirk

Well, one can't post live links on Instagram, so that's a negative. However, my models help me promote and many of them are popular on Instagram.

Facebook allows for targeting if you are going to do ads. FB feels like more of a community and may be more of the demographic for me.

The main thing, I think, is engagement. If people are just looking and not paying much attention, they are just consuming content and not becoming a backer.

If you had a cool video of your dog talking about the project it might get shared more than a NSFW one.

I've noticed that it's a lot slower than it used to be. I think people have evolved past traditional social media!

Wife and I worked on the video this past weekend. I ended up doing most of the talking lol. But there are lots of great pics and clips of the dog and how our product works.

I just got home and saw your kickstarter, i was hesitant to open it at the office (my day job)

Pretty cool thought, great shots! Just backed you, good luck!

Hm..slower in what way? Building hype on social media? Based on what you've seen, what is the most effective these days?

Any help would be much appreciated!

For consuming photos, I tend to use Instagram more (along with keeping up with people's lives). I largely ignore brands on Instagram, but that's because of how I use it. Though, many of my friends don't have an instagram, so I'll still go on FB, but I hate their algorithm which determines which posts you see.

I tend to use Facebook a lot more for marketing my own products and sharing projects. Facebook also gives you a lot more data in terms of what is working on your business page or personal page. In general, that's where people are, from your grandpa to your younger daughter (even though it's not as cool to her lol).

Now it really doesn't matter facebook or instagram cause they're designed by the same company, i mean the same organization. The only difference was instagram was designed for posting some photos or pics and facebook for chatting and communicating, but now it's a huge platform for everything. I personally work on instagram, I have an acc on instagram where i post aircraft equipment like glasses, seat belts etc. And i didn't have popularity and i found a website where i could buy instagram likes and increase my popularity and i thought that was a good idea, so i bought some likes and then my statistics increased and it helped me a lot. Like, now you could even work on social media as most people do.
