Do people think that adding some extra time would be a help? We're prepping to launch a campaign and have been debating how many days we should go for. It seems like during the Holiday Season going beyond the standard 30 might make sense.

    Hi,

I was actually searching for the same answer! I have decided to make my goal into smaller goals. So as it is the christmas season turn my idea into a christmas gift opportunity which the campaign will last 28 days a week before christmas... then after the christmas period go for a new campaign more relative to my overall aim.

I had launched a Kickstarter prior and during Christmas in 2012 and I definitely can't recommend doing so. During Christmas people look for real gifts they can get ASAP. Also few people were surfing online during the holidays. So I strongly advise against doing so.

    Hello,

I also had a similar concern whether launching before Christmas would impact the project especially if it is a game?

You can find our project here:

    Thank you!

Was wondering - in regards to media coverage - when is the appropriate time to launch?

Have seen others recommend sending our your journalist emails on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after 9 AM.

Fine - but between DEC 15 and JAN 1 - no one will look at your side.

After January 2 - when is the coast clear so you have a better success rate?

I tend to agree that during the holiday season, people will prefer to spend their money on gifts and projects which can materialize by Christmas (or Hannukah). I'd hold off until beginning of February, 2015 when the income tax refunds have began coming in.

February (tax refund) is a good time. . . but somewhat too late to start.

In regards to media coverage I would think that Jan 6, 13, 20 and 27 are doable.

Anyone knows when the state of the union will be addressed?

Good points! Personally, I just had a gut feeling that my campaign should not be active over Christmas time, so I timed it to end about a week before.

Has anyone offered to send gift notifications? If so, do you think it helped? How did you do it?
