    Slowdown to standstill.

    by MartinT » Mon Sep 29, 2014 3:05 pm

    Hi,

I launched my kickstarter campaign on the 16th of September. It started well, but after the first week it slowed down and now I haven't got any backers in the last 3 days.

I know the funding goal is very ambitious for a Kickstarter but that's the money I need to carry on my development plan. I know that for this funding goal I would need a couple of thousand backers, and that goes well beyond my social media connections. I've been trying to get press releases published on tech blogs but I haven't been able to get any published yet, that I know.

Any feedback would be welcome. http://kck.st/1wnxw2f

Also I think my main video is a bit long, but if I short it I'm not sure if people will get the concept.
    Martin

Welcome to the Club. Cutting through to the heart of the matter, I'd say try (well, do you have $600 to spend on a PR campaign?) one of the press oriented crowdfunding outfits that have sprung up around Kickstarter. Google that. We checked out the granddaddy of them all, and got free pointets from just perusing their site.

Unfortunately, I don't have any budget for PR. I know there some PR agencies that get a share compensation, like Fundzinger. But I have also read bad review about these PR agencies, that's why I preferred to do the PR myself.

What PR have you done on your own?

I can tell you that your Jun '15 delivery date is a bit daunting. I understand you might need development time, but that's far enough out that it is difficult to get excited about...

Well, besides contacting about 500 of my social media contacts, with personalised messages, twice, once before the launch and once after. I have been sending a press release, written by me, to a media list of near 50 technology blogs and some online news papers. That's the first time I write a press release, but I have checked many guides online, then made my own rules (because the guides often have conflicting points, I guess they all arrived to the same conclusion ;-) . These press release has evolved a bit during the last week. I have contacted most of the media list thrice, trying to send the messages to different editors, rather than generic addresses like, tips@ or news@ I'll probably make this media list larger in the next few days.

I know that the delivery date is far away, and the funding goal is very ambitious. But that's what I need to be able to deliver.
