When planning a campaign, it's good to have some pillars/surest support as you start up, sort of like how a politician has a base they try to keep in mind, or a product has an estimated market. For me, two huge pillars have been family and friends, who've really come through in getting my campaign to 61% so far. But another pillar which seemed to have crumbled was an adjunct-campaign, a game-a-thon that didn't work out because the person I originally planned it with suddenly needed her savings for life-saving medical expenses. The good news is, one of the collectives I contacted just got in touch with me, and they will run something which we safely estimate will get me between $100-$200. So up to 5% of my goal right there, something to really push through the mid-campaign doldrums and keep things in good shape heading for the home stretch.

I am immediately drawn into this story as the author paints a brilliant picture for me to enjoy as it unfolds. As I’m treated to the POV of Derek, he already begins to grow on me showing signs of the rare, reasonable and open-minded human being. Chandra wound up being my favorite and I was pleased to find myself reading her POV often.

Much background is provided; normally this might be difficult to keep track of but in this case it is done so with humor as well as a bit of family drama, keeping it interesting and memorable. ‘The Gift-Knight’s Quest’ is extremely well spoken which also provides for easy reading since it makes for no grammar/typo distractions – this is a quality that seems hard to come by lately and I cannot help but appreciate this as I read.

I'm often worried about how strangers will receive my work, but if you, like me, are trying to get people to fund your project, you're already banking on strangers receiving your work. You may as well have it reviewed.

Just checking in to remark how grateful I am to all my backers that this project was successful, overachieving by $336--enough that I can pay Kickstarter's fees and still end up with my goal. Now I'm just waiting for Kickstarter to collect pledges and I already have a printed out contract with Matador, an imprint of Troubadour Books. The first print run will occur in the UK and if the marketing services work, this paperback will be in high street stores; I will have to take care of backers using POD to save on shipping, so that I don't just have to ship a ton from the UK, there's the possibility of doing an on-demand print run here in Canada.
