As you may know I've been working on the show #helpmeplz and it's now funding on kickstarter, but I'm having trouble getting people to back the project, or even look at it. Is kickstarter dead?

Back 5 years ago when KickStarter was new, the press was filled with stories about potential successful projects funding on the new crowd funding site but I can't seem to get a bite from the press (event through I'm manually e-mailing some blogs and press companies) and almost no traction on KickStarter Backing. Even my targeted twitter ad campaign, while steadily getting actions - is not producing backers, nor do I see potential backers clicking on the video on my site. Pray tell how do I get traction?

Yea, the game has definitely changed and the competition is more fierce. I think it might be better if start stranger outreach only after you've tapped out your personal network (see you have one backer). What kind of feedback have you been getting on the proposed project?

I have recently launched a project and have posted on all of my social media outlets. I feel like I want to get the word out to more websites and bloggers but I am struggling to find places to post. Any suggestions?

Its certainly not dead, quite the opposite. It a lot stronger now but isn't the new and exciting thing it used to be so its lost that "casual" attention. It has its own traction. You have to do the leg-work on your own now unless you have a crazy good or random idea that goes viral.

I've tried ads, but I don't think I've done the project right. I think it's better than my first KickStarter but it's not getting any traction at all zilch!

This is an excellent question. I wonder how largely funded projects have articles written about them on big sites from day one.

I have to admit to trying to puzzle out the same thing.

I have a currently smallish reader base and have been trying to spread my social media presence for months since I self-published my first two books. It just seems it's hard to make traction ... people seem far too easily distracted by sensationalistic news and horrible events to seem to pay attention to tweets about new writing and stuff like that.

Any tips on breaking through on a minimal budget (I wouldn't be trying to crowdfund aspects of my writing if I was flush with cash) would be great.

Are you the sole person involved in your project? If not how about getting the other creators to spread the word.

Sole creator in my case, though I am pressing into my own network of friends and family for support.
