Key to the Kingdom: Legacy (A Mobile Board Game App)

    by EmceeGuy » Wed Aug 06, 2014 7:35 pm

Hi, my name is Darren. I grew up playing video games and board games, and I totally believe playing games with others helps build relationships and a sense of community. My Kickstarter begins with a Board Game fromt he 90's: Key To The Kingdom.

“Key to the Kingdom” was a board game produced in the early 90’s, invented by Paul Bennett, and is no longer available in retail stores. The goal of the game is to go around the board until you've found the "Key Treasure card" and then escape the kingdom before another player steals it from you. Think of it like a simplified version of Dungeons and Dragons, meets LIFE. Making it an enjoyable table-top experience for classic table-top fans, but also great for a family & friends to enjoy together. Key to the Kingdom: Legacy is our mission to fully preserve the original game as a digital app.

Funds we raise will be used to pay our partnering Game Development team, Pardew Studios, to build and produce the game at the level of quality that we feel this game deserves. And through perks and stretch goals we can add additional monsters and other cool content. In addition to funding our development team, we are most excited to be able to reward our backers with a slew of perks, ranging from a personal thank you email, a signed poster from Paul himself, to even having one of the 5 NPC Hero’s in single-player mode named after 5 backers!

Well, I hope you're interested in checking out my project! And don't forget: Play more games! :geek:

Looking for any advice/help on my project!

    by EmceeGuy » Fri Aug 08, 2014 4:03 pm

So far I'm close to the end of Week 2 of my campaign. I've been posting to Twitter and Facebook, and engaging with a variety of Table-Top and Video Game aficionados, as well as the overall Kickstarter community to promote my Campaign. I feel that everyone I've engaged with has shared an overwhelmingly positive response! They like my campaign, and even share out my page!

The disappointing news is I'm not finding this to give me a boost in Backers. I've been making little tweaks to my page, and even dropped the price of the main "Get the game a launch" perk to make it more affordable for everything. I still have a few people who have stated that they were going to feature the project on their site in a "Kickstarter Highlights" article, and a close friend of mine said that they were pushing the campaign to their friends at some big online publications. If those panned out they would be big for my campaign, but at this point I'm finding it hard to get traction

That all being said, this is my first Kickstarter. I've already learned SO much, and I am having a lot of fun and meeting tons of new people so I am super excited with what I've accomplished so far! I still have hope for that ONE moment that will give my campaign a big boost, and get to the finish line, since there is still plenty of time, But I would love to get more feedback and thoughts on how to spread the word out there!

P.S. I'm also looking to do so without spending money. I'm not sure I'm ready to commit advertising dollars into my campaign, as i feel that if i did have extra funds, it would be to invest back into the game directly, but let me know if you have an opinion on that too!
