It took about 3 weeks to prepare my game project Arcana: Sands of Destiny for the Kickstarter campaign.
Because we have been working really hard on it for a year until we ran out of the budget. Check out my campaign https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/205801986/arcana-sands-of-destiny
It started very nice on the first day, in fact right when we launched it we got 3 backers already ( it was like within the first 2-3 mins)
But it's not doing real well right now. Despite that the game is 70% finished, and not just on the paper or in someone's head.
I wonder if anyone can tell me what is going wrong here.
Also I'm getting messages from people posing themselves as kickstarter specialist in bringing the crowds for 200$. What do you think about it?

My product is actually the cards themselves. I have been working on a new language/code for over 30 years. This is my first "product" using that code. I want to get the $1.600 to print greeting cards with the word "Love" in this secret code (meaning L: Love, O: wonderful,V: valued, E: Now and in the future. I just started my project at:
www.tinyurl.com/greet-rose. It runs until July 16, and I am 12% funded right now.

I have prototype cards, (paper printed with the QR code and an explanation of the language). I need to start visiting bookstores, coffee shops, etc. with those as well.

Definitely google their company name before doing business with anyone. There are a few companies out there to be aware of (unhappy customers)

My team prepared for 5 and half months for my playing cards project for the Kickstarter campaign. Yet as this is my first crowdfunding project I still have several things to improve in our product. I think I will need 3~4 months for our next project.

I was working full time over the last year as a designer. Long hours during the week meant I had little time to get my project up, I worked on it on and off for a few months. I finally stepped away from my job to freelance for a while and get the project up. It's up now and I'm super excited. I am learning a ton and even if the project does not succeed I will have a better idea of what to do next time. Feedback is important to me right now, so if anyone wants to check out my project and leave comments I would really appreciate it!

It took us, all in all, about 6 weeks to get everything set. That included uploading all imagery, doing the Photoshop work for the main branding image, writing all copy, sharing it with my collaborators, and shooting and editing the video. But I had all the concepts floating around in my head well before that, so if you count that time it's more like 3 months.

In all honesty, aside from the video the longest bit of effort came in the form of defining, organizing, and writing about the rewards. It seemed so simple until the discussion started about what we actually could versus couldn't reasonably offer to people!
Back my Kickstarter project and I'll love you forever: http://kck.st/1hgH9ML

It took my approximately 6 months to get to this 8 day prelaunch position. A lot of it was the learning curve as this is my first Campaign. I have several more projects planned and I believe I can get it down to about 3 months. Doing the video took the longest as I dislike how I look and talk on camera. And you always wish you premarketed more!

P.S. No jokes about the video!

We have been preparing our campaign for 5 months solid. We initially launched back in May but cancelled to correct some of the mistakes we realised at the time were stopping backers mainly to do with postage issues outside the UK. We are relaunching TOMORROW 1st of July better and stronger :D In summary we expended nearly from the beginning of the year preparing our campaign and spreading the news about how easy peasy squishy dishy can transform your children's mealtime into a stress free experience.

We're still 60 days from launching our campaign and I would say we've been working on the strategy and tactical plan for 3-4 months. As we are getting closer to the launch date the concentration of time is increasing. So maybe the better question would be "How Many Hours did it take to prepare for your CF launch?"

As we get closer to our actual date the time will go from a few hours a week to several hours a day or more. And that could be for the next 60 to 75 days. We will likely spend as much time in our pre-funding campaign - press, twitter, facebook, personal reach out, etc. - as we will during the campaign. Once our campaign is open I expect a steady 2-3 hours per day of solid work. New posts in all social channels, answering specific emails, keeping key stakeholders in-the-loop will all require time.

I know I'd be interested in other views on this. Thanks...
