Hi everyone. I wish I'd found this site before launching my campaign on Kickstarter. I was just wondering. After launching campaigns, how many people have received numerous emails from people trying to help with promotion (some ridiculous, some just plain rude)?

I even had one person go as far as finding my website and contacting me through my online contact form, going onto my facebook fan page and leaving a public comment and, of course, sending multiple emails on Kickstarter.

I have other people asking for contact information so they can "discussion the best promotional avenues for the project" or something similar.

*sigh*

At least the campaign seems to be going well, four days in.

Yes, I've had similar experiences with offers, but I look at it as just someone else trying to earn a dollar or two or three. I think SPAM was born with the invention of the world wide web, as opposed to Monte Python singing about it. You have to investigate any claims that sound interesting on your own. Some are easy to weed out. Others don't even deserve a response.

Oh yeah, welcome to the wonderful world of Campaign Marketing Services spam. Just days after launching I already got a few of those, including legit-looking campaigns that were hoping for cross-promotion. It may not have been this bad when Kickstarter was new, but now this is the norm.

Yea, there are a lot of spammy companies like this. However, there are also legitimate consultants and companies that do marketing/PR. I would google the names of the companies that approached you or ask on this forum if anyone has used them (so we can get some reviews going).

Care to name the ones that you consider to be legitimate? That would probably help people out, and save them time, to boot.

I received a few of these as well. Along with a number of promotional companies favoriting my tweets about the campaign in order to try to get my attention. It wasn't something I had thought about before launching, but I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised. There's spam for everything else, why not kickstarter?

I think this happens to everyone. It happened to me when I started my first Kick starter and it's happening now. Some people are real and some are not. Be careful!

They are all spammers pretty much, if someone had a mirical way of getting everyone funded to $100,000 dont you think they would just be launching their own stuff 7 days a week and becoming millionaires..

If it sounds to good to be true, it is..

My advice is spend the money making a better video.
Spend more time before you launch building an audience.

Failure is ok, because when you relaunch learning fro your mistakes you can then draw on all of the people who previously backed and get them into the next one giving you an even bigger head start
