Since my project is going to be an app that costs $1.99 for the ad-free version, I made the $1 reward the full app at launch, which saves the backers %50 from the eventual retail pricing. I suppose it really depends on what you're trying to market, but I do agree that $1 reward is a great entry point for most campaigns, if not just to build backer numbers easily.
