Awesome tips! I learned something new for my next kickstarter. I would like to add, Green Inbox is a great tool for getting emails out to everyone, personalised emails this is what got me over the goal
IDB your project looks great! However there is only one reward? Maybe you could add more rewards, like postcards of the images in the project, an ebook, etc, I know people would enjoy a variety of rewards and different tiers to select from
Thanks. I put that suggestion to the team and we have a couple of ideas that might work. I appreciate the feedback. We area also working on a video to add shortly.
1. We believe its very important to create a community from the people you know. We've found this to be useful because these are the people who are most likely to back your project
2. Create a good video. Creating a good video helps people see who you are and what your project is all about. A lot of times people back you instead of the idea
3. Do some PR. Having prominent people post for you in your intended target market or getting bloggers can be a very important step in creating a strong campaign.
Understand how much the total cost of producing and shipping (both to you and your backers) will be so you can set the correct funding goal. I've run into several projects that have run out of money during fulfillment because of unplanned shipping costs to receive their items as well as underestimating the cost of shipping the items to their backers. It's best to keep things small and simple at first!
My best tip would be to over estimate your delivery time and be up front with your backers. I think it's better to deliver early than to deliver late. When I missed my delivery deadline by a month so many people we're frustrated even after telling them that the reason we were behind was because we wanted to ensure the highest quality product for them!
