LeoCorde Clothing launching 2/25. Feedback appreciated!

    by leocorde » Mon Feb 17, 2014 1:01 am

Hey, guys my names Peter Wu, I'm 18 years old and Im launching a Kickstarter campaign for my clothing brand LeoCorde clothing soon! Ive worked really hard on the brand so far and I am willing to do anything to get my campaign funded. The premise of my brand is basically a simple clothing brand that combines elements of street wear and casual wear, and is produced by a private manufacturer so the shirts have top-notch quality. I'd really appreciate it if you guys can give me some feedback and also give me some advice on where to go to promote before my launch! Thanks!!!

"Pledging a donation is basically pre-ordering that specific design. " - Would not use this wording. In my experience, Kickstarter is trying to shy away from being viewed as a "pre-order" platform. They may use this as grounds not to accept your project. Would use the terms "reward" or "perk."

With regards to advice, if you click on the article below and scroll down to the "Interviews of successful creators" section, would recommend checking out the three fashion interviews.

Also, would check out the interview I did of these guys (they were around your age and had a 10k goal). It yields some insight as to how to go about marketing a product when you are on the younger side: http://www.crowdcrux.com/learn-how-thes ... f-capital/

Thank you so much for the response!! I will take a look at all your helpful advice. Just one more question. Would you recommend using a marketing/PR service? Would they be effective? Some ones im looking into are crowdfundingPR, Ayudos, PromoteMyCrowdFunding. Are any of those effective at all? Any input is appreciated! Thanks again!

I am biased because I help run CrowdfundingPR. I would google the names of each of the companies. I know Ayudos has gotten some mixed reviews (again, I am biased).

I would also manage expectations. If you're going to be investing $20-$100, don't expect it to bring you thousands of dollars in pledges. It could if people like your product and it goes viral, but the services should be used in conjunction with other types of marketing efforts. It's not a magic bullet.

If you're investing a significant amount, I would be crystal clear what actions the consultant or company is going to be doing. See: http://www.crowdcrux.com/types-of-crowd ... -campaign/

    And: http://www.crowdcrux.com/doing-due-dili ... s-part-15/

Also, when you do choose a company, be sure to leave a review on this forum so that others will know what to expect.

Final point -> If any company promises to deliver you pledges, then I would really ask how they are going to do that. The reality is that companies can guarantee traffic, but there is no way they can guarantee that traffic will convert into backers or pledges (at low pricing). If you're working with an experienced consultant that has an established network in your category/industry, they may be better able to judge if there will be good product/market fit. However, if you meet someone like that, you can be they will be charging you a rate comparable to the value they can deliver.
