I am Lowkey, the one who founded another pinned up article here on Kickstarter Tips and Advice section : 1 year 7 Months Marketing Research Compiled.
So here we go. Since my last article, many of you pmed me for more informations and some even decided to work together. That actually give me lots of side income for the past months and it the job itself contributed to the improvement of my method. Here now, I'll show you the things you can never find anywhere else on the Internet : The actual results for type of ads and what to be expected from doing fb ads.
P/S : Keep in mind its always good if you can read the previous 1 year 7 Months post beforehand since most of the stuff here were mentioned on the previous post and since I am just starting to write this I dont know how this post will turns out in term of specific details and explanations. Good luck people. Here we go.
My go to method would be :
1. Setup a good landing page (Often costs you not more than 99 Dollars)
2. Setup facebook pixel on the THANK YOU page to use Leads Objective.
3. Run the damn ads.
4. Get Leads.
5. Submit the leads to Mailchimp service and prepare a good convincing email.
6. Keep your audience updated for the launch date.
7. Set up a pool to see the estimated numbers of interests to get the early bird offers and always take only half of the numbers (eg if 100 shows interests for early birds, take 50 as confirmed backers right after launch)
8. Set up your funding goal to be as much as what those 50 confirmed backers worth and aim to get funded within 24 hours.
9. You will be listed under Popular projects since you did get funded within 24 hours, and you can now use the tagline "Funded within 24 hours" or 24 minutes or whatever and that will give out a vibe that "this project is trusted, and thats why its funded so soon"
10. Run ads for traffic (since Kickstarter doesnt allow any pixel to be installed on the campaign) and test different ads setting.
Thats all. But its rather too simple, correct? Well very true. But I am willing to explain more, especially for no 10. Its not as easy as that. What you should have done is to do some research on campaigns who shares similar niche with yours. For example if a guy selling balls, they should be looking for another successful campaign who sold balls before. What they should do next is to click on Community tab, and see the top countries which the campaign performed since that mean ACCEPTED the concept and you do not have to pay too much attention into EDUCATING your audience. For example, most of watch campaigns do well in Singapore/USA/Britain compared to other countries. Why? They just do. Australia and Canada pays more attention to tech based project (which is why they were listed under early tech adopter audience)..
Now, lets talk about educating your audience. Learn, how to educate your audience. Especially if its something new (specifically if you target early tech adopter)..if you going for Design based campaign (again, for example watches) it depends entirely on how the design looks like and how you can convince that its unique and all. So lets see how the sample ads looks like.
These QLYX case studies :
2892 Backers
$124,979 Funded.
Now heres some screenshots from the ads :

Now, heres the conclusion and what to look out for :
1. Do some try and error and get your RS (Relevance Score) to 8 and above. It represent the responds you gonna get from the audience. Pretty much basic really. Higher scores means your audience likes what they see and will most probably do something about it (ie signup for early birds etc)
2. Ads for mobile : See how the ads title/headline ends at Skynet, on the dot? Thats one of the most important things which most campaign owners ignored while running ads. They only care about making good headlines without checking how it will look like on the phone ads section. Its ALWAYS better to end the ads on the dot instead of the classic continuation "..." or "read more"... some marketers might not agree with this thinking its better to make them intrigued and want to learn more. But that works for maybe 10 years ago? Nowadays, everyone know the terms CLICKBAIT. Seeing too much buzzfeed/viral stuff online they dont bother to go through unfinished headlines since they know its just another clickbaits. You know I am right about this.
3. Educate your audience : When I say educate, it does not simply means telling them how the product works. Educate, means to impress your audience and give them a good insight on what your product can do. See our headlines, and tell me if it impress you. Thats my job to figure out what works for the product (making your car smarter), how to relate it with something familiar (skynet, terminator movies related, Stephen Hawking, well known Scientists), and what you have to offer (the link for 30% off)... Educate your audience.
4. Target Age : This varies from one project to another. Looking to sell some old school redesigned wood works? 32-52 might do the trick for you. Special tailored suits? Maybe 26-36. Special made sunglasses for hippies? 18-27. So how do you identify your audience? You can either see the audience insight on Facebook to see your major audience by inserting similar interests or run the same ads targetting different age groups to see the RS and boost the them like hell after.
5. Ads placement : Just go for facebook, nothing else. I know you have the options to put them on instagram and so on but buddy, for real tho, why bother? As we know, we need to educate our audience. Now tell me what ig users do? They went through pictures, and scroll away. Ig users use ig to see pictures, not to read. Unless u have super video/gif/images to symbolise your product functions in one single image, then no. pass.
---- EXTRAS ----
Device placement : Do you know you can choose which phone can see your ads? So are you trying to sell a new iphone 8 case? Target iphone 8 users only, or maybe add iphone 7 6 6s and 5 too since they will be the one most probably upgrade to iphone 8 soon. Or. Maybe you are selling something to help Windows user, for example a new keyboards that compliment Windows user interface? Aim for desktop and windows user. OR, maybe you have some high end new tech. Aim for latest android users and latest people who update their ios since they are most probably early tech adopter. See?
Countries : Top 5 would be USA, Canada, GB, Australia and Singapore. Thread carefully, I dont want to spoil my secret on this one.
Audience Interests : This, it varies from one campaign to another. Explaining it all will take me more than 2 pages I think and you can look things through on my previous posts : 1 year 7 months marketing research compiled.
Thats all for now I guess. Leave your question below and if you are planning to run any campaign soon, tell me too. I am open for new projects now, and if I like yours, I am going to give you more discounts for my service since its probably need less work. But if its a no, please dont push me. I know this sound ridiculous but I am not going to accept a project which I think I cant deliver. As much as I wanted to help, just follow my instructions, fix your campaign based on my comments because what I am going to tell will definitely fix your problem.
Remember to leave some comments below, chills.
