So far I think the best advice I've received, keep in mind my project is only 11% funded, is that it's not going to happen automatically.

You have to push your campaign. Find your niche, and push your campaign. It won't happen by itself, that's a freak occurrence, if you don't work it -- it won't work.

Lots of good advice here. I definitely agree with a lot of what's been said.
*You're the driving force behind your kickstarter - if you don't push it, it wont get pushed.
*Have plans and know who your allies are, as well as the lay of the land before you go into battle
*Never give up, and stay classy as you try and include as many people/appropriate platforms as you can.

I've been told to prep your campaign by having a press release ready, a slew of emails to blast to, at least 10 influencers to have ready to tell their friends, and a lot of luck.

To aim for extremely low target and aim to hit it in the first few days. Everyone likes to back a winner! And people like to purchase things, not wonder whether they are going to get the reward or not..

I think sharing is key. Whether on social media or another platform.

Suggest or encourage incentives for your backers to share the project. You could even create hash tags to start a "sharing" vibe for your project. This could mean something creative like having people share pictures related to you on instagram or write captions.

Put in the work beforehand. Don't expect to just throw your project up there and get funded. You're competing with everyone else on that platform so hitting the ground running with a great marketing campaign, large network, and the resources necessary to deliver on your offering is crucial.

Start building your network early and send a focused message.

Reach out to old professors and scholars. My god that was helpful!
