@reverse - Good point. Transparency is key, especially now that anyone can look up things online and get the wrong idea if no context is given. Like you said, it also builds a lot of trust and encourages people to invest emotionally in your project.

There is some great information about kickstarter campain.

I have written down some of his« tips ». But as you might know, Charles Adler doesn’t give advice on kickstarter Campain. However, after we showed our project at the end of the video, he said:

« I don’t give advice on kickstarter Campain, It’s up to you!
I shy away from advice because there is no answer for a kickstarter campain.
I think you should reflect what the product is or what the campaign is.
It’s really a reflexion of you. Have fun with the kickstarter campaign, how you express what this is for, and have fun with the video. »

The conclusion is: have fun is the key, according to Charles Adler.

I'm currently kickstarting a tabletop game, so my first piece of advice is game-specific:
1. Before launch, read everything on this site: http://stonemaiergames.com/kickstarter/
Jamey Stegmaier has gone the extra mile to make information accessible to game creators.
2. After launch: mention the Kickstarter staff twitter feed in your tweets. I did that and the next day I was on the Kickstarter homepage.

Sadly, I didn't get any advice before I started my campaign. So far the most consistent advice has been to focus on driving traffic to my site. Funding has been slow... I just hope slow and steady is enough to finish the race.

The best piece of advice I got was from a passersby designer in a chat session on The Game Crafter. He told that I would need to be"omniscient and omnipresent-- to take a god's eye view of your life, not just your Kickstarter campaign." He claimed to have synced his personal life to his KS page, so he wouldn't miss a thing.

This guy is an old school chess player and treats his Kickstarter like a game, always forming a Plan B or trying to think five steps ahead. He even had made a folder full of unused graphics for his KS and social media pages. These were made to fulfill any scenario that might befall his campaign, even if it was to hit a ridiculous million dollar stretch goal!

Cos he "wanted to be ready if he got lucky and it did."

That's some dedication.

Ye, I would have to say don't rest on your morals. Promote, promote, promote. For the period that your project is running, it should be a full time job.

I'm not really there yet myself, but I believe the best advice I was given was to understand my own product before everyone asks about it. I need to be ready to send a paragraph about who I am or photos or others press release info BEFORE those requests come.

Shipping fee can kill your project! Especially if your product is not expensive.
